Do I need medical experience to join an elective?
Most electives are open to current healthcare students — medicine, nursing, dentistry, midwifery and allied fields — as well as pre-med students. Requirements vary by specialty and hospital, and we'll confirm exactly what you need before you book.
Will my elective count towards my degree?
Many universities accept Med Trips electives for credit. We provide a completion certificate and can supply the documentation your medical school requires.
How far in advance should I book?
Most students book 1–3 months ahead, but we accept applications up to a week before departure on many placements. Booking early gives you the best choice of dates and hospitals.
Is it safe?
Safety is built into every elective: vetted accommodation, a 24/7 in-country coordinator, airport pickup and a thorough pre-departure briefing.
Can I come as a group?
