What students can expect

Placements are supervised and largely observational: you observe and shadow clinicians (or laboratory staff on the laboratory elective) and learn how the department or lab works. A working knowledge of French is helpful given the language of the system. Any hands-on involvement is basic and supervised, and only where the programme supports it.

The Medical Elective suits medical students and recent graduates who want a North-African, shorter placement; the Medical Laboratory Elective suits those drawn to laboratory medicine. Some familiarity with French makes the experience richer.

What work will I get to do as an intern?
As part of the Medical Elective Placement, you’ll take part in an observational placement at private hospitals in Rabat. Depending on your interests and level of study, you may be able to shadow doctors in a range of departments, including:
