A medical elective in South America means hands-on exposure in a lower-resource setting with strong community engagement. Med Trips is based in Cusco, Peru, high in the Andes, offering Dental, Pre-Medical Observership and Medical tracks.

Your placement includes a named supervisor, accommodation, medical insurance and university sign-off support, and runs from 1 to 12 weeks. The dry season (May to September) lines up with summer breaks, and Cusco is the gateway to Machu Picchu for your days off — a favourite for students who also want to practise their Spanish.
