The Med Trips Elective Grant — $1,300 Medical Internship Funding
Each calendar year we award one grant of $1,300 toward the placement fees of any Med Trips hospital internship or healthcare placement abroad.
Who can apply
Healthcare students aged 18 or over at any university worldwide — including medicine, nursing, midwifery, dentistry, pharmacy, physical therapy, paramedic science and allied health — plus pre-health students planning a clinical career.
What the grant covers
Up to $1,300 applied directly to your placement fees, which include accommodation, meals, airport pickup, orientation and 24/7 support from our in-country teams. The grant does not cover flights, visas, insurance or vaccinations, and it is not paid as cash.
How to apply
Applications are made through our short online form — it takes about ten minutes, and it is the only way to enter, so every application is recorded in one place.
You will be asked for:
- Your full name, email, university, course and year of study
- The internship destination and specialty you have in mind, with preferred dates
- A statement of 300 to 600 words: what you want from the placement clinically, and why it matters for your training
Timeline and selection
Applications close on 28 February 2027 and the winner is announced by 15 March 2027. The grant can be used for internships departing within the following 12 months. Applications are judged on the strength of the statement and the feasibility of the plan. One award is made per year and the decision is final. The winner agrees to be named on this page (first name and university).
Terms
- One grant of up to $1,300 per calendar year, applied to placement fees only
- Not transferable and not redeemable as cash; excludes flights, visas, insurance and vaccinations
- Application details are used only to administer the grant
