De werktijden voor de stagiairs in het programma zijn doorgaans van maandag tot en met vrijdag van 11.00 tot 20.00 uur. In het weekend zijn er vrije dagen om bezienswaardigheden te bekijken, uit te rusten en te ontspannen.

Als stagiair voor het tandheelkundig programma in Griekenland krijg je de kans om tandheelkundige procedures te observeren en te volgen, samen met tandartsen, verpleegkundigen en ander personeel. Je neemt ook deel aan de dagelijkse routine en bent getuige van verschillende casussen en specialismen.
Afhankelijk van de beschikbaarheid van de patiënten krijg je te maken met verschillende tandheelkundige casussen, zoals tandheelkundige volksgezondheid, endodontologie, kaakchirurgie, kaakchirurgie, orthodontie, kindergeneeskunde, parodontologie, prothetiek en radiologie. De meeste stagiairs lopen mee met de professionals en observeren hun dagelijkse schema's.
Deelnemers nemen een kijkje in de dagelijkse praktijk van drukke tandartspraktijken en krijgen een kijkje in de praktijk van patiëntenzorg. Door nauwlettend te observeren en samen te werken met bekwame professionals, ziet u hoe tandheelkundige teams samenwerken om hoogwaardige, patiëntgerichte zorg te bieden.
Belangrijke elementen van het programma zijn:
- Meelopen met tandartsen en andere tandheelkundige specialisten tijdens consulten en behandelsessies.
- Ontdek de hulpmiddelen, technologieën en technieken die de moderne tandheelkundige zorg vormgeven.
- Volg de klinische workflow om te begrijpen hoe praktijken hun activiteiten beheren en de patiëntenzorg coördineren.
- Het verkennen van meerdere specialismen binnen de tandheelkunde om een breed begrip van het beroep te krijgen.
Dit is een meeloopprogramma, waarbij deelnemers geen praktische tandheelkundige handelingen uitvoeren. De nadruk ligt op observeren en leren van bekwame professionals.

Luchthaven ophalen
Stagiaires in Griekenland dienen op zondag aan te komen, aangezien de accommodatie wordt verzorgd vanaf de zondagavond vóór de startdatum op maandag. Bij aankomst worden stagiairs verwelkomd en naar de accommodatie gebracht.
Oriëntatie
Voordat je aankomt, ontvang je een welkomstmail met informatie over de stad en de stageplek. Je ontvangt ook een interactieve kaart met belangrijke locaties. We maken een WhatsApp-groep aan waar je vragen kunt stellen vóór je aankomst en tijdens je stage. Bij aankomst geven we je een introductie over het appartement en hoe je met het openbaar vervoer kunt reizen.
Accommodatie en maaltijden
De appartementen zijn volledig gemeubileerd en voorzien van alle gemakken, zoals apparatuur, keukengerei en zelfs een wasmachine. Je deelt het appartement met 1 tot 4 stagiairs van hetzelfde geslacht uit verschillende programma's. Elk appartement kan eenpersoonsbedden of tweepersoonsbedden hebben, met in totaal 1 tot 3 kamers. Je deelt een gemeenschappelijke badkamer, keuken en woonkamer. Alle appartementen bevinden zich in woonwijken vlakbij de metro en supermarkten, restaurants en cafés. Met de metro ben je in ongeveer 30 minuten op de gastlocatie.
De laatste overnachtingsnacht is de vrijdagavond van de laatste week, waardoor stagiairs vrij zijn om op zaterdag te vertrekken. Extra overnachtingen kunnen op verzoek vooraf worden geregeld en zijn afhankelijk van beschikbaarheid.
Maaltijden zijn niet inbegrepen bij de stage. Stagiairs kunnen terecht bij betaalbare supermarkten om boodschappen te doen of uit eten gaan en genieten van de wereldberoemde Griekse keuken.
Let op: de getoonde foto's zijn voorbeelden van accommodaties. De uiteindelijke accommodatie kan variëren afhankelijk van de beschikbaarheid van het appartement.
Vrijetijdsactiviteiten
Stagiaires hebben 's middags en in het weekend de tijd om zelf op ontdekkingstocht te gaan en hun eigen plannen te maken. Mocht je hulp nodig hebben bij het plannen van de weekendtrips, dan staan wij voor je klaar.

Eligibility and Preperation

Who can apply for the program?

Interns must be 18 years or older at the beginning of the program. Pre Medical students, Medical and Nursing students can apply for this internship/elective. Participants joining the Medical internship program need to provide additional documents such as Resume/CV, Passport copy etc, details of which will be provided. You must be physically fit and in good health at the time of joining the program.

Yes, students should consult their doctor or travel clinic for recommended vaccinations before travel.
Accommodation and Living

Can I know more about the accommodation and food arrangements?
-
Interns are provided accommodation in fully furnished apartments.The apartments are fully furnished with everything you need like appliances, kitchenware, and even a washing machine. You'll share the apartment with 1 to 4 interns of the same gender from different programs. Each apartment might have single beds or double beds, with 1 to 3 rooms in total. You'll share a common bathroom, kitchen, and living room. All apartments are in residential areas near the subway and close to supermarkets, restaurants, and cafes. It takes about 30 minutes by subway to get to the host site.
The last night of the accommodation is the Friday night of the final week, leaving interns free to depart on Saturday. Extra nights of accommodation can be arranged in advance, if requested, and are subject to availability.
Meals are not included in the internship and interns have access to affordable supermarkets to purchase supplies or can eat out and enjoy the world famous Greek cuisine.

Would I have free time during my program? Can I do sightseeing during my program?

Interns have afternoons & weekends free to explore and make their own plans. There is a lot to explore in the city of Athens as well as other beautiful parts of Greece.

What kind of hospital/clinical experience will I get?

Placements are primarily observation-based but tailored to student level (pre-med, nursing, or medical). Students shadow professionals in departments such as surgery, pediatrics, emergency, physiotherapy, OBGYN, and more. All students need to give preference of 3-4 departments of their choice. Depending on the preference and internship/elective duration department allocation shall be done.

Can I perform medical procedures?

Due to local regulations and ethical standards, students will not perform hands-on procedures. However, they will observe, learn, and gain insight into patient care, local health systems, and medical practices.

Visa requirements depend on your nationality and destination. We provide guidance during the pre-departure process.

Is airport transfer included?
-
Participants are provided pickup from Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos (ATH). Interns are required to arrive on the Sunday between 9am and 6pm. Pickups outside this time frame can be arranged at an additional charge.

How do I get around during the program?

Interns in Athens use local public transport such as taxis and metro train for commuting between the accommodation and hospital placement.

What are the recommended inexpensive airline options to fly to Greece?
-
For intra-Europe travel, the cheapest are Ryanair, Wizz Air, easyJet, Volotea, and sometimes Aegean if you need a bag. For long-haul, the budget-friendly options are Scoot (from Singapore), Pegasus (via Istanbul), and TAP (via Lisbon), or just combine a cheap long-haul into Europe with a low-cost European carrier for the last leg.

We partner with modern hospitals where English-speaking staff are available. All students are required to have travel insurance that covers medical care abroad.In case of any emergency, the local team will provide all necessary support and assistance to you.

What kind of support will I have?

You’ll have full in-country support from our local team in Athens. In case of any emergencies or problems, the staff will be there to support you and assist you always.
